Ross Tech Usb Interface Not Found

The information below is not well detailed anywhere that I have been able to find. Ross-Tech briefly reviews this below, but requires a lot of knowledge on manual driver installation in Windows. A lot of enthusiasts have genuine Ross-Tech cables, and this can be used to make them even more useful than they already are with VCDS, as 3rd party applications can provide more than VCDS has to offer. This can save you the cost and headache of having to buy and use a second cable. I have been able to use the genuine Ross-Tech cable in any place that a generic FTDI OBD-II cable would otherwise be needed after installing the drivers and setting them up properly. This is going to require that you are at least somewhat familiar with navigating around Windows.

The USB standards do not allow for passive extension cords! We have tested many Active USB extensions and have found one that works. You can order the 16-ft Active USB Extension from our Store. We do not sell or support any other brands or models of USB extensions, if you have problems when using one, the first thing we're going to tell you is. 'Dumb' Non-dongle (all other interfaces) (This applies to the UNI-COM, TWIN-USB, TWIN-COM, BI-COM, MAX-COM, FAST-COM and ISO-COM as well as 3rd party interfaces) If you're using a current version of VCDS (not VCDS-Lite!) that you bought directly from Ross-Tech. The cable on this interface is about 6 feet long - just right for most laptops. The USB standards do not allow for passive extension cords! What You'll Do

This is being displayed on Windows 10, but the process should be similar, if not identical, on Windows Vista, Windows 7, and Windows 8.x.

First, download the drivers from Ross-Tech. While it is very tempting to skip to the very end and download away, be sure to read the text on the page so that you at least know what you're getting into. Pay special attention to the first bullet subsection. Consider yourself warned. After you get the drivers downloaded, unzip the files and remember where you put them. Download mirc 6.12.

Open up Device Manager, either by itself or through the computer management console. You'll need to plug your Ross-Tech cable in for the rest, but you don't have to be at your car to do this, so you can do so pretty much anywhere if you want. Once the cable is plugged in, expand the USB controllers section and find your cable. Right click and select Update Driver Software.. I realize that the driver is already installed, but we need to 'update' it again.

Hi, I sent this to support, but also posting here in case there's quicker response... it is the weekend.
I'm trying to use my VCDS with my 2008 Audi A6 3.2 quattro. I just updated from v17.3 to v18.2. Never used my VCDS on my A6 -- I had used it on my S8 with great success last year.
I'm getting the error message port status ok, interface not found. The A6 key isn't working (only MMI starts, the dash stays off, likely a problem with the ignition module error code), so I used the bypass method highbeam/hazards/brake, but no luck.
I'm thinking maybe a driver issue, but unsure. It tried automatically downloading something, but it froze in the middle of the install.
I've hit a wall, and I need to clear my codes so I can use my A6 again. Can anyone help? Thanks in advance.
